We can home yesterday to find Chris laying down in our backyard just as happy as could be. He was sooooo excited because he found these right in our backyard for the first time ever!

Blonde Morel

Chris could barely contain himself as he took picture after picture of the blond Morels. Joe was even called to come over a revel in the beauty of these mushrooms. We had about 5 morels in a little cluster, but they were big! The largest one was almost as big as my fist. We are all very excited for the Morel season which fast approaching. I’m not sure how much I will be hunting this year since Olivia will have to be carried the whole time.

Over the last two days, the kids and I have walked 5 miles around the neighborhood hoping to find more morels, but we haven’t had any luck. Eddie claimed to find a “Chanterelle” on the nature path near our house, but it turned out to just another LBM- little brown mushroom. I’m just proud that he remembered another mushroom name! Here’s a cute picture on the path near our house. As you can see, it’s sometimes a tight fit with the double jogger, but we make it.

Nature Path

We stopped by the thrift store today while waiting for a leaky tire to get fixed. I found 3 great patterns for dresses for Olivia, some material for very cheap and a pretty skirt that I am going to use to make my wristlet and wallet. I’m excited to start these projects and hopefully will have something posted soon.
