Not Sewing

Hungry Bushtits

Yep, that’s me this Christmas.  I don’t know what it is.  Maybe burn-out or overwhelmed or that darn TV in our bedroom.

We finally moved over to the Darkside and put a TV in our bedroom.  I hate to say it, but crap, I love it.  Sitting in bed and knitting until 2am is addicting.  Sewing in the dark, cold living room- not so much.

A & E

So I whipped up, yeah- really, whipped up these two hats the other day.  I followed everyone else in the Ravelry world and fell in love with Malabrigo yarn.  I used the chunky and free patterns on ravelry to knit these two up.  (London Beanie for Eddie’s and Thorpe for Augie’s.)

Each only took one day to knit and the boys love them.  Augie even wore his to bed the first night.  I think it’s the ear-flaps.  Who doesn’t love those?

The weather is perfect for these thick, soft and warm hats and we’re getting even more today.  (6-8 inches with freezing rain on top. ugh.)

Up next, fingerless gloves.  No, they aren’t a part of a christmas present and yes, they are taking longer to knit, but who cares?  It’s snowing, I’m warm and this will be the first white Christmas that I can remember.  I can’t complain.

  1. I’ll say it again: Your kids are gorgeous. Stay cozy. There will be time to sew again, soon.

  2. Yeah, I haven’t been sewing much this holiday either. And shucks, my husband just bought a huge 40″ LCD TV, which I originally hated, but now I’m starting to really like. Probably because it gives me something to do while nursing the baby besides just stare at her. Love the hats, btw.

  3. We have had a t.v in our bedrm for as long as I can remember and I always feel guilty when people start discussing whether it is a good thing or not. I love it and don’t want to give it up. Glad to hear you speaking out on this “issue” ha. I have a cute fingerless glove pattern that I meant to knit last year. This may be the year though. Your kids look great in their new hats.
